Welcome to the WHS School Health Page

Welcome to WHS School Health. My name is Tracy Curtis, BSN, RN. I am known to the students and staff as Nurse Tracy. Please feel to reach out to as needed. Email and Dojo are the best ways to contact the health office directly. Should your student visit my office during the school day, I will reach out via Dojo, phone call, or email. At times, a note will also be sent home with your student.

RCS requires all medical forms for chronic conditions and Rx medications to be updated ANNUALLY. I highly recommend having these forms updated over the Summer Break and sent to the nurse for review prior to the start of a new school year. This allows for any corrections to be made prior to school start. The LINKS tab to the right of this page includes all RCS Required Medical Forms under the Medical Forms Link. In accordance with the current RCS Medication Policy, ONLY ESSENTIAL MEDICATIONS will be administered during the school day. All Rx medications and medical procedures require a PCP completed RCS Medical Form BEFORE the school can accept a medication or provide care. No medications should ever be sent to school with your student.

Nurse Bio:

I am a 1994 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. My professional practice areas include hospital-based Critical and Special Care Units, Cardiac Care, Post Anesthesia Care, and School Nursing since 2005. I joined Rutherford County Schools in 2011, working with Smyrna High School till May 2022, then transferring to Walter Hill School in August 2022.

I serve as the WHS First Responder Team Leader and the Crisis Response Medical Team Leader. I am a trained Instructor of STOP THE BLEED from Vanderbilt University Hospital, Naloxone (Narcan) use instructor, and serve as an American Heart Association CPR, AED, and First Aid Instructor. I am proud to announce our school has been a Project Adam Heart Safe School since 2018. We have an established Cardiac Emergency Response Plan includes annual CPR and AED training and EMS activation practices for sudden cardiac arrest on our school campus. Each year, school nurses across the county train all 5th Graders in AHA Hands Only CPR and AED.

I look forward to working with you and your child.
