The Physical Education dept is doing a fundraiser for The Gr8t Chase Foundation. As many of you know, Chase was a former student of Walter Hill. During his 5th grade year, he was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. He was offered a Make A Wish, and instead of using it for himself, he gave it to our school, specifically, the gym. He wanted all new sports equipment for the boys and girls to use. We still use that equipment today. In honor of Chase, I would like for this to be an annual event.

During the next couple of weeks, all students will be learning and playing floor hockey with fun activities. For those that would like to participate in a competition, we are having a few competitions for the 3rd-5th grades. The Prek-2nd grades will have a Gr8t Chase week with fun floor hockey activities, one of Chase’s favorite sports.

The 3-5 grades will be offered to be entered in a hockey shootout. There will also be a team dodgeball competition (8-10 players competing amongst their same grade level) for those students wishing to participate. The competitions are just for fun and to raise money for a great cause.

The top money raiser will get to be the P.E. teacher for the day. The classroom that raises the most money will get extra P.E. time in the gym. To make a donation, please put your child’s name on an envelope with the amount of the donation and teacher name. Please make all checks payable to Walter Hill Elementary. All activities will take place the week of January 24-28, and the following week if needed. All money will be due by Feb. 4.
